Within the framework of the European project bioXclusters, funded by DG Enterprise (CE), the four life science clusters, Biocat, BioM, bioPmed and Lyonbiopole and ERAI, organised a mission to Brazil which took place from 9th to 14th September 2012.

This mission followed the visit to Europe by Mr. Eduardo Soares, CEO of the BioMinas cluster, last April. A rich program planned in advance enabled the partners to meet research institutes, biotech companies, bioincubators and innovation agencies in the areas of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro during the mission. These included Butantan Institute, FIOCRUZ Foundation or FINEP Agency

The mission’s objectives were to meet key Brazilian life science players, list the main sector stakeholders and identify potential cooperation opportunities for European SMEs.

During the visit, the partners also had the opportunity to participate in the Bio Partnering Latin America event which took place in Rio de Janeiro where they presented the bioXclusters project during a plenary session about “International Interactions”.  One company from the Rhône-Alpes, Imebio  and the Bavarian company IMGM Laboratories joined the EU delegation to meet with potential partners for future collaboration.

A report of the visit would be soon available on this site.
